What is the Time Groups Module used for?

The Time Groups Module is used to define periods of time that can then be selected in the Time Conditions or Outbound Routes Module.

For example, you might create a Time Group called "Lunch" that might start at 12:01 p.m and end at 1:30 p.m.  You could then create a Time Condition that would use the Lunch Time Group to send calls during lunch to voicemail, and all other calls to a Ring Group.

You might also create a Time Group called "Holidays" that defines all the major U.S. holidays.  You could then create a Time Condition that would use the Holidays Time Group to send calls to the receptionist during non-holidays and to a voicemail recording on Holidays.

How is the Time Groups Module related to the other Modules?

The Time Groups Module is directly related to the Time Conditions Module and the Outbound Routes Module and indirectly to the Inbound Routes (previous scheduled IVR examples using Set Destination within Inbound Routes).  Both the Time Conditions Module and the Outbound Routes Module have a pull down that allows you to select a Time Group that will be used in that module.

Overview

Time groups are a list of times in which incoming or outgoing calls are checked. The rules specify a time range, by the hour and/or date. Each time group can have an unlimited number of rules defined. Time groups typically are associated with time conditions, which match destinations for calls based on the time and are configured in the Time Conditions Module. Outbound routes can also be assigned a time group, making that route only available during times defined in a time group.

Adding a time Group

Description

Enter a description to identify this time group. For example, “Closed Hours” works better to something generic like “Time Group 1.”

New Time

This is where you will define a time.

  • Time to start - What time should the time range start that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Time to finish - What time should the time range finish that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Week Day start - What day of the week should the day range start that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Week Day finish - What day of the week should the day range end that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Month Day start - What day of the Month should the range start that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Month Day finish - What day of Month should the range end that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Month start - What Month should the month range start that makes the evaluation of this group become True
  • Month finish - What Month should the month range end that makes the evaluation of this group become True

Unset parameters will default to all.  So setting time to start to 09:00 and End time to 17:00 and nothing else will make the condition true from 9AM to 5PM every day of the week, every day of the month, every month.
