Blacklist (Call Blocking)

FreePBX - Admin Menu

What is the Blacklist Module used for?

The Blacklist Module is used to add phone numbers to the blacklist or remove phone numbers from the blacklist.

You can also choose to blacklist any blocked or unknown calls.

When a number is blacklisted, any calls that are received by the system with that number in the Caller ID field will be routed to a disconnect recording.

How is the Blacklist Module related to the other Modules?

The Feature Codes Module allows you to set a code that can be used to add a number to the Blacklist.

Overview

The Blacklist module allows you to have a list of numbers that will be blacklisted by the PBX. If a caller calls from one of those phone numbers they will hear the message "The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and try again."

  • On the top menu click Admin
  • In the drop down click Blacklist

Blocking Unknown Caller ID Calls

You can also optionally decide to block all calls that come to your system with a blocked Caller ID. To do this click on the option “Block Unknown/Blocked Caller ID” and press the Submit button.

Now if someone calls you from a blocked caller ID, they will be told your number is not in service.

Feature Codes to Block Numbers

You can also blacklist any number using feature codes. If you log into the Feature Code module you will see the actual feature codes defined for Blacklist. Below is what the default settings are.

  • Dialing *30 will prompt you to enter the phone number we want to blacklist.
  • Dialing *32 will blacklist the last number that dialed your phone based on the Caller ID of the number that called you.
  • Dialing *31 will prompt you to enter a phone number to be removed from the blacklist.
